Chain Drive
The chain drive is our most economical opener and is a wonderful choice for both strength and longevity. While they are not as quiet as the belt drive opener, they are extremely durable and built to last. The chain drive was originally designed for heavy loads and frequent use and are perfect for any oversized or extremely heavy garage door.

Belt Drive
The belt drive is our most popular type of opener and we love it as well! It is comparable to the chain drive in terms of extreme durability, strength, and longevity, but is also known for being ultra quiet. If you have rooms around your garage and would like to keep noise down, the belt drive is the way to go! If you upgrade your rollers to our steel ball-bearing, nylon coated rollers along with the belt drive, you may completely change the sound of your system!

Jackshaft (sidemount)
The Jackshaft opener is an excellent option if you have an extremely low or high ceiling, (perhaps a standard opener will not fit) or if you just prefer to save ceiling space. These openers will mount on the side of your system as opposed to the ceiling and limit noise and vibration while operating. This is an excellent opener as well!

A garage door opener’s lifespan will depend on its quality, how often it is used, and how it is maintained. If you have a high-quality opener such as LiftMaster Professional and use it moderately, we often see these last 20-30 years, sometimes more. If the opener is lower grade this life may be 10-15 years, sometimes less. If the opener was damaged at any point or over-used (ex: operated with a broken spring/door off track, running it multiple times in a row frying the capacitor, not repairing when needed) the lifespan could be very low.

In general, the springs are what do the lifting of your garage door. If your springs are in proper working order and they are the correct springs for the door, the opener should gently assist in its raising and lowering. We generally recommend at least ½ horsepower. If you have an oversized or extremely heavy door, perhaps opt for the ¾ HP or DC motor.

Yes! However, one thing to note is that when the total is added up from the opener purchase and our installation fees, it will come pretty close to our prices, and it is most likely that the quality of opener we are installing will be quite different. Our openers will also come with a much longer and more comprehensive warranty than installing a previously purchased opener.

If you have a compatible make and model vehicle, our technicians may be able to program your new opener directly to the buttons in your car.

Battery back-up is an excellent choice for many. Benefits: If your power goes out, the motor may loose all its programming of remotes, keypad, HomeLink® (car programming). Battery back-up will ensure the opener keeps power and thus does not loose all the programming. Drawback: at some point the battery may need to be replaced.
